Power is much easier to acquire than it is to hold onto. Jude learned this lesson when she released her control over the wicked king, Cardan, in exchange for immeasurable power.
Now as the exiled mortal Queen of Faerie, Jude is powerless and left reeling from Cardan’s betrayal. She bides her time determined to reclaim everything he took from her. Opportunity arrives in the form of her deceptive twin sister, Taryn, whose mortal life is in peril.
Jude must risk venturing back into the treacherous Faerie Court, and confront her lingering feelings for Cardan, if she wishes to save her sister. But Elfhame is not as she left it. War is brewing. As Jude slips deep within enemy lines she becomes ensnared in the conflict’s bloody politics.
And, when a dormant yet powerful curse is unleashed, panic spreads throughout the land, forcing her to choose between her ambition and her humanity…
From the #1 New York Times bestselling author Holly Black, comes the highly anticipated and jaw-dropping finale to The Folk of the Air trilogy.
Review
I loved reading this book so much that The Queen of Nothing is my favorite in the trilogy!
Oh my gosh, where do I begin? The story starts with Jude in the mortal realm, acting as a mercenary of sorts, and from out of the blue, she receives a visit from her sister Taryn who asks for her help. Unable to resist the chance to go back to Faerie Court, Jude decides to help her twin and it only gets better from there!
Now that she’s back in Elfhame with a heart of vengeance, I found each page is as interesting as the next because I had no idea how she was going to achieve her goals. As the story progressed, I just loved the action that unfolds, and the juicy bits and pieces provided about characters along the way which further explain their behavior. And, surprisingly, I was quite happy when both Jude and Cardan mended their broken relationship
I loved this book and it was incredibly heartbreaking to see the series end. I was so engrossed with the story, it was almost like I was transported into another world. There were scenes that kept me on edge and in certain chapters, I experienced goosebumps- hahaha it was that good! The Queen of Nothing is such a well-crafted story and I honestly didn’t want it to end. I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to the incredible world and characters that Holly Black created. I wanted to know more about how Jude and Cardan will rule. I wanted to know how the relationship between The Bomb and The Roach would go. I wanted to read about a possible budding relationship between Taryn and The Ghost but alas, all good things must come to an end.
Overall, this is one of the best books that I have read this year! Though it is targeted for Young Adults, I think readers across different age groups will enjoy The Queen of Nothing by Holly Black. Lastly, I have heard so many positive things about this book and I agree with them. The Folk of Air Series by Holly Black is definitely worth the hype!
